How to Join

How do I volunteer?

Becoming a member of North Warren Volunteer Fire and Rescue is a streamlined process. The steps are as follows.

1 Contact our Recruitment and Retention Coordinator (RRC), Deputy Chief John Wren at Engine10Truck@gmail.com for instructions and questions. During your talk with your RRC, you should ask them to set up a station tour.

2 Print out the Application and fill it out to the best of your ability, should any questions arise don't hesitate to ask for help from your RRC.

3 Apply for your VOEMS  (Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services) affiliation. Your VOEMS account will be used for training later, please remember your account log-ins and details.

4 Submit your application to WCFR by submitting it to your WCFR RRC.

5 Register your fingerprinting account and set up an appointment at FIELD PRINT, VIRGINIA. To request the agency code, contact your RRC.

6 Wait for your fingerprints and background check to come back, this can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months based on the availability of services.

7 While you are waiting for these items to come back contact your RRC so they can set up a new volunteer orientation (NVO) for you. Your NVO will set the framework and supply you with a baseline knowledge of the department and answer any questions you may have.

8 Once you have completed these steps and everything has come back you will receive an email from your RRC telling you everything is set. Now you may start volunteering and getting to know everyone and learning the apparatus.
